Burberry Ready-To-Wear A/W 2010 LFW

Burberry Ready-To-Wear A/W 2010 LFW

Who: Christopher Bailey
Wear: Chelsea College of Arts, Westminster
When: 23rd Feb 2010

Flying the flag for Britain, the Burberry show was streamed live around the world...in 3D - the fashion world was excited!

Not only was the show returning to London for the second year in a row (championed by Anna Wintour no less), Christopher Bailey was also breaking fashion boundaries in terms of technology and accessibility. But ironically the clothes embraced history and heritage as only Burberry can.

Before the show Topshop boss Philip Green described Burberry as 'key' to LFW because of the sense of tradition that the brand embodies. This collection certainly reflected this.

This season's out-a-wear, inspired by history and aviation, was all about sheepskin, BIG collars and military detailing. In line with the military feel colours were earthy with deep moss greens, creams, navy and black. The key being the mixture of textures, from sheepskin to thigh-high leather boots to fur(looking like a trend).

Bags also carried the military feel with heavy, gold studding, as did coats with bold, statement buttons, zips and buckles. The iconic trench featured, most noticeably in bold royal blue. This was all balanced out with soft, romantic silks.

Anna Wintour and Kate Hudson flew in especially, people around the world in LA, New York, Tokyo, Dubai and Paris watched live and interestingly, everything from the show was made available immediately online (Until Feb 26th) - probably not good for so many bank managers.

Burberry Prorsum's iconic heritage lives on...

MFW A/W 2010 Fendi sneak peak

Had to post this Twitpic from Joe Zee, creative Director of ELLE.

Straight from the Fendi catwalk in Milan, a Karl LBD. The humble LBD was the outfit of choice for my 21st but the draped detailing is also reminding me of this Lipsy Grecian dress. Admittedly in S/S nude rather than black, and not as stunning, but not bad for a high street alternative. Available from asos.com £65.

Mulberry Ready-To-Wear A/W 2010 LFW

Mulberry Ready-to-wear A/W 2010 LFW

Who: Emma Hill
Wear: The Orangery, Kensington Palace
Music: The Bare Necessities

I love Mulberry.

If I'm honest Mulberry only truly captured my imagination at last years S/S 2010 show, the candyfloss colours, the balloons and the carnival antics. As an English lass I feel passionate about supporting English talent, so much so, I have a couple of pieces of arm candy from the S/S collection. (will post pic's soon)

Described by Emma as 'the fabulous, the ferocious and the floral' this collection was purposely slightly ironic - the 5ft glittery panthers lining the catwalk were a clue! Think 'Valley of the Dolls', Hollywood theatricals and over-the-top animal prints. The animal print, which I think is becoming a staple, was seen on the Bayswater and the Alexa bag. Hair was up, BIG, backcombed yet loose.

There wasn't a single piece I didn't want...immediately, but I was particularly pleased to see some old favourites return. True English essentials such as wellies, trench coats (hooded!), luxe furs in both nudes and greys and plenty of new takes on the LBO (little black outfit).

The prints were exotic with purple, pink and royal primary blue highlights (I loved the blue - I have just brought my friend a Chanel-Esq French Connection padded chain mail bag in this colour)

I love Mulberry, I loved the Pug dog, who walked incredibly well and could teach Sky a thing or two, and I want one of the GIANT scarfs for winter please.

London Fashion Week A/W 2010

As anyone who follows me on Twitter will have noticed I was beyond desperate to be at LFW this week - particularly the Burberry show, 3D for heavens sake. Alas I was stuck doing uni work instead.

However, thanks to live streaming (at last) & Twitter updates from Editors and creative directors all was not lost!

Today Mulberry...

90's throwback, Baby-G watches and all...

As a child of the 90's (well very late 80's) I was very excited to discover that firstly, I'm old enough to officially have a throwback era and secondly, Rihanna has paid homage to it in her new video for Rude Boy!

The video is a welcome change to her recent dark and moody look, she's even rocking a whole collection of Baby-G watches on her wrist.

During primary school my poor mother was nagged and nagged - I had to have a Baby-G watch - 'because everyone in school has one!!' Not true but it worked and now it turns out to be a true investment piece, officially vintage!

Love the Rated R album.

The story so far...

Hello!

Wow so this is my first ever blog post! Naturally it would be polite to tell you a little about myself.

I'm in my final year at university studying journalism and cannot wait to finish and start working towards my ideal career...a magazine journalist - features and fashion ideally.

I've completed work experience at a number of local news titles, both weekly and daily, including the Daily Post Wales, and I now have a collection of published work which I'll upload at some point. I also have experience with Berkshire PR firm, BerkeleyPR - just to see if the grass was greener on the other side!

This spring I will upgrade to the official title of 'intern' when I join The Independent on the fashion desk for three weeks - VERY excited!!

My plans for the summer involve taking a short course in fashion journalism at the London College of Fashion and, as well as the usual holiday, taking an American road trip with the uni girls - California style. (I'm not guna lie MTV's The Hills has influenced this choice of destination)

I have a lovely boyfriend of six years, James Henry. Reading FC pay him to kick a ball around everyday, he would hate this, he actually works very hard. It has to be said football is a fickle game and while it provides a very comfortable lifestyle, the short-term contracts, injuries and personality clashes make it incredibly testing both physically and mentally. I look after him though by feeding him pasta and making sure his tracksuit is clean! Haha

We both love our clothes and we've recently moved into a new house big enough to store them all. Yours truly re-decorated the whole place and we now love it, as does our doggy, Sky. She's a beautiful Staffordshire Bull Terrier, two years-old and full of personality. She often resembles a small pig bless her!

I live for a Tuesday (magazine day!), ASOS (the website and the magazine), Net-A-Porter, styleofafashionista.com and Vogue - a girl can dream!
