New Year, New Look - SS11 Press Day

 Happy New Year from TMD!

THIS POST is long overdue (blame the long intern hours leading up to Christmas) but hey, better late than never as they say. It's a brand-spanking New Year and I'm so ready for the fresh Spring/Summer trends to finally hit the high street.

What better way to start the New Year than with a post about one of the high street's heavy hitters - New Look. I had the pleasure of attending the New Look Spring/Summer '11 press day a few months back and I was so impressed by the collection. The champagne and oysters from the surf shack bar weren't to shabby either!

As you would expect from the clever people at New Look all the key trends from the catwalk are covered so prepare for great things as the clothes start to drop into stores in the coming months. Here's a sneak peak at some of the best bits taken on my Blackberry....

Neon colour blocking

70's style
Flower power
A great city short

Prints

Colour!

English garden

My must-have block yellow, scalloped-edge shorts

For the beach...
Studio '54 glamour

Very Missoni!
And the accessories..

Cute & classic bag

Chanel style for a fraction of the price

Sporty courts

Animal print carries through from Winter

The bolder the better for SS11 accessories
These snap shots by no means do the collection justice. Some of my favourite pieces were from the Limited Edition range which, as you'll soon see in stores, presents an ethereal slant on the 1970's trend.

As you can imagine I left the New Look head office a rather happy bunny, goody bag in hand, mentally planning my SS wardrobe. Bring on the summer!

AMONGST a season of simplicity with the emphasis on a grown-up, classic look I've found the perfect thing to slip on underneath. Young, London based lingerie label Beautiful Bottoms.

I met one of the designers and founders Poppy Sexton-Wainwright at the London Fashion Week exhibition, one half of a girlie duo which is completed by friend Lauren Skerritt. The girls, both 22, met at university and set out to create a fresh and innovative lingerie label. Their array of unique and eclectic designs which have a real vintage feel certainly portray just that.

My friend and I were immediately drawn to the beautiful prints and feminine shapes, the collection is certainly aptly named, but it also feels amazing to touch as every piece is made of silk. It certainly puts the t-shirt bra and control pants to shame!

So I think while wearing this seasons camel coat and tailored trousers, feeling all sophisticated and every bit the fashionista, these little beauties are the perfect undergarment for 'girlie girls' at heart. Prices range from £25-£40.

A catch up...

I'VE BEEN on hiatus but I'm back and have lots to share!

So much going on in the world of fashion at the moment..

  • Lavin for H&M - oversized floral prints, hot pink, puffed sleeves and shoes and bags to die for, the collaboration of the season is about to live up to expectation.
  • Jimmy Choo for Ugg is now available making cold winter days so much more glamorous.
  • And Jonathon Saunders, Preen, Jonathan Kelsey and....personal favourite Roksanda Ilincic have signed up to Debenhams - can't wait!...a designer/high street collaboration theme seems to be occurring here!

And over in my little world, so much has been going on while interning...

  • I've helped style The Wanted (it was tough but someone had to do it!) amongst a few other celebs.
  • Narrowly dodged a TV debut having assisted on a shoot with Laura Z & Samantha of Seven Days fame on Chanel 4.
  • Partied with Jodie Harsh, Miss Frank & Brian Friedman at the All Stars Lanes on Brick Lane for the Puma 'After Hours' launch (yes, we bowled...we were beaten by Tomo from Random Mag)
  • And I've assisted on countless fashion shoots - camel, leopard, shearling, chunky knit, military, tartan...the list goes on...
Here's a few pic's to sum it all up so far!

Camel shoot

Intern fuel from coxcookiesandcake.com

Fabulous fingers make light work

Lou doing a spot of bowling

The Wanted

Puma party photo booth fun

Channel 5 welcome: Lou & Olivia on the red carpet

As you can see having fun and learning lots. I'll keep you posted!

I blame Burberry...

BACK IN February I blogged about LFW and the key trends coming through for AW 2010...
"This season's out-a-wear, inspired by history and aviation, is all about sheepskin, BIG collars and military detailing. In line with the military feel colours are earthy with deep moss greens, creams, navy and browns. The key being the mixture of textures, from sheepskin to thigh-high leather boots to fur (looking like a trend)."
Fast forward 6 months and the time has come for trends to become a reality. The buzz word flying around fashion...shearling. From shoes, bags and of course jackets we just cant get enough of the stuff.

So here's my pick from the high street plus a look at the aviator jacket I'll be donning this AW (I've actually had it for over a year now but never worn it. It was a present from my apparently VERY fashion forward grandma. Get her, the little trendsetter! It's by Red Herring but because it was a gift I'm afraid that's all the info I have).

My AW shearling aviator jacket
